It was incredibly rewarding to work on this project, creating the album artwork for my good friend Matt Heming's debut E.P. We grew up together in Gloucestershire and his album also reflected on his upbringing, so it was a really unique opportunity to create artwork that meant a lot to me too. I really wanted a warm and tactile feel in my illustrations, something home-made and so I created all the imagery by drawing and painting onto paper and scanning in those illustrations. The map was printed out, ripped (so as to include the places we're from) and scanned in again to be used in the artwork. For this project I created my own font out of my handwriting. I feel that this adds to that home-made feel that I wanted from the start. All the background paper textures were made from pieces of recycled paper I scanned in at a high dpi. The tattoo illustrations were done in pen and scanned in to be converted to black lineart. I really loved working on this project and I thoroughly enjoyed the process of working on something that the client was really passionate about too and had also put a lot of time and effort in because it really felt like a rewarding collaborative process.
