Hobbit Hole
In my free time I really enjoy crafting things in miniature, I've always loved miniatures stemming from playing with dolls houses as a child. I made this small scene of a hobbit hole from polymer clay, paper, packaging, wire, ground textures from model sets, and other found materials. I find huge enjoyment in creating things that are very small and detailed and I take great pride in this sort of work. My favourite part of this project was adding the wood texture detail. I used dentist's tools to sculpt lines into the polymer clay before baking, and then added watered down acrylic paint onto the hardened clay to highlight the detail. I used two part epoxy resin in the pond to give the water effect, and I then added real plants and rocks for an extra sense of realism. The lily pads and the flowers were made of tiny pieces of paper that I painted with acrylic paint and balanced on the resin as it dried.
